Thanks to all the competitors who came to Round 7 of Road and Track on August 22nd. It was great to see a number of first time entrants - we hope to see you again at future events.

The day started off with the weather looking a little dodgey. The damp track lead to a few spins, with one car hitting the tyres at the exit of Toyota. Well done Jamie! Apart from that we saw some great sprinting and some very close battles.

The series is now getting close - who is going to take away the top prize?

Thanks to the Manawatu Toolshed for providing prizes for the series! The series champ will take home an 18v Makita impact wrench to make trackside wheel changes easier. Other prizes include a cordless drill, a powerbuilt socket set and various other Powerbuilt tool packs.

Remember to head to the Manawatu Toolshed for all of your Powertool and machinery needs - they have a full service workshop and provide the best repair service in the Manawatu. Ring 06-3567766 or drop in to see them at 62 Russell st in Palmerston North.

The Road and Track Sprint Series is where you learn to hone your track skills in a safe environment with your car. You need no really expensive equipment to become part of the series, and can be competitive due to the structure of the class breakdowns.

As for vehicles we recommend your daily road car for these events , which can also be used in the RS Cup Series for the duration of the Winter Series.

Your road car needs only the fire extinguisher fitted, and that it be free of all things loose in the cabin. We recommend that you tape your battery positive terminal up and ensure that it is securly mounted in the original position otherwise it needs to be in accordance wwith MNZ rules. (4 x 6mm bolts minimum and inside a sealed box. Make sure you bolt the battery and not the box!)

All series dates will be listed here for 2010 so make sure you are at the best club sprint series around.

2009 Road& Track Sprint Series. Congratulations to Ernie Stevens for the overall series win, closely followed by Mark Clarke, and local Scott Allpress in his giant killing Starlet.

Well done to the class winners, Ernie Stevens, Adrian Marsden, Mike Ireland, Hilary Ashworth, Joanne Butler and Callum Mcrae.

We need your support to help us obtain a AMB timing system. Can you please send us a letter via email stating that the AMB timing system will be of benefit to you as a competitor and the series as a whole. Send them to manawatucarclub@xtra.co.nz with AMB in the heading. Thanks!
