The entries are in and this years edition of the Whariti Peak Hillclimb looks set to be highly entertaining!!  The calibre of the competition is such that the multiple world class rally drivers and quad racers are guaranteed to put up good fights to take out the top spot.
Upon a quick look through the entry list a series of names jump out - Richard Mason, past NZRC champ, proven international rally competitor, and previous Whariti Peak hillclimb holder; Andrew Hawkeswood, a top level competitor in NZRC, Race to the Sky and the famous Pikes Peak Hillclimb in USA; Sloan Cox, current Whariti Hillclimb trophy holder and NZRC competitor destined for the big time; Geof Argyle, past NZRC champ and Whariti hillclimb winner; Ian FFitch, International quad bike racing competitor with numerous records to his name, including fastest quad at Race to the Sky.  To be fair I don't know alot about the quad bike competitors, but the fact three of them are brave enough to sit on 1000cc machines speaks volumes.
There is limited access to spectating on the hill, however the drivers and their machinery will be gathered at Sheep #63 Cafe in Woodville on Saturday morning while they complete their sign in, in the pit area at the base of Whariti Rd during the event, and then at Tui HQ, Mangatainoka for prize giving after the event on Sunday afternoon.

	Thank you very much to Pub Charity who granted us full funding to purchase a set of high quality timing gear including electronic start lights. The lights have been very well received
and have made life alot easier and safer for our helpers - particularly the start line crew. The new gear is helping our events run easier than ever.
